Here is a presentation about ways technology can be leveraged to reach ‘less privileged’ members of the society. The ‘hourglass’ model is used to explain how microfinance institutions can act as intermediaries (through information technology) in the development process, by providing access to mobile phones and community telecenters (for mobile payment solutions and information sharing services). The presentation also explains the tools available to ‘more privileged’ people (blogging platforms, peer-to-peer microlending platforms) and lists examples of various members of this development map.
